What Are the Trends About?
Each year, the horticultural sector announces the upcoming trends, and 2025 is no exception.
New developments, existing inspirations, emerging trends, and movements in the floriculture sector all play a role in shaping these trends. However, each trend is deeply aligned with the current Zeitgeist, which is why they’ll soon feel so familiar. We’ll see these trends everywhere — far beyond promotions in the flower industry.
The 2025 trends focus on four distinct styles centred around flowers, houseplants, and outdoor plants. While all of them reflect the Zeitgeist, each trend is shaped by different aspects of what’s currently popular. This variety can make them appear contrasting, yet they remain connected by the spirit of the times.
Zeitgeist [zaɪtgaɪst] noun – the defining spirit or mood of a particular period in history, as reflected by the ideas and beliefs of the time.

In the meantime, the moodboards for each trend will give you a preview of what’s to come and whet your appetite.
What to Expect Next
You’ll see these trends shaping the flower industry and beyond—it’s a mistake to think they’re irrelevant to your business.
Perhaps Doris, who loves her spray carnations, won’t be directly influenced, but her children and grandchildren certainly will be.
Year after year, these trends have proven their influence within our industry, consistently hitting the mark. Concepts and combinations we couldn’t have imagined a decade ago have now become commonplace. That’s why we’re confident the 2025 trends will be just as successful as those from previous years.
Keep an eye out for the details we’ll share soon. They matter and are well worth knowing about.
More about the Trend Campaign & Promotions
Who’s behind this campaign & why?
The Flower Council of Holland is the driving force behind this campaign within our sector. Each year, they present The Trend Collections, developed in close collaboration with key players in the horticultural industry.
As you might expect, these trends reach far beyond the UK, with targeted campaigns in Holland, France, and Germany. Similarly, the promotions extend beyond the flower world to inspire consumers — the ultimate target audience — to drive sales.
What promotions will take place?
The Flower Council of Holland has created eye-catching promotional materials that align with 2025’s style trends. These will be widely used within the horticulture industry — and perhaps even more importantly, beyond!
There are numerous images available for each trend, and we’ll be sharing them with you. This photography is freely available for use, whether for customer communication, general inspiration, to encourage sales, product innovation, or more. All the Flower Council of Holland asks in return is that you credit them appropriately, with photo credits to Funnyhowflowersdothat.co.uk and Thejoyofplants.co.uk.
The press is also encouraged to use these materials. In fact, the Flower Council of Holland actively collaborates with the media and influencers to bring the trends — and flowers and plants— into the spotlight for consumers for the benefit of our industry.
