What you’ll discover below:
#1 Tulips
Let’s start the new year off with a colour explosion and if there’s one flower that bring all the colours it’s Tulips.
The selection of Tulips or Tulipa that’s available is nothing short of incredible, beyond the range of colours, just the different types of heads is fantastic.
They include:
- Single – Tulipa ‘En’ or enkel (Dutch for single)
- Double – Tulipa ‘Du’ or dubbel (Dutch for Double)
- Coronet – Tulipa ‘Co’ or Coronet – An example is the Crown of Dynasty.
- Fringed – Tulipa ‘Fr’ or Fringed – An example is the Clemente
- Parrot – Tulipa ‘Pa’ or parkiet (Dutch for Parrot)
Other varieties can be described as Lily-flowers, Viridiflora, Peony-flowered, etc. Although you’re unlikely to find them listed this way on our webshop. And that’s before we talk about the painted tulips!
The range of painted tulips is ever growing and brings a real twist to the selection available. VIP Flowers have a large range of these intriguing tulips you can see the full selection of ‘Topping’ VIP Flower tulips here.
If you’re wondering, the ‘Topping’ effects are created by the tulips drinking a special coloured fluid that is completely natural and fully biodegradable without any harm to the environment from the start to finish!
#2 Narcissus | Daffodils
Narcissus Soleil Dor (UK Grown)
Narcissus Paperwhite Ziva
Daffodils bunched (UK Grown)
There’s something so wonderful about the sight of Daffodils in January. Whilst there’s too many varieties to show here, we’re pleased to share a few with you, including two grown in the UK.
#3 Veronica
Whilst Veronica aren’t officially a spring or winter flower, they are most certainly available throughout the month – as you most likely know – Veronica are available throughout the entire year. However, the reason we’ve selected them as part of our top 5 in January s because their dainty spike form fits so well with a whole range of spring flowers, but perhaps especially with the daintier seasonal flowers.
Scroll through the images and you’ll see a small selection of colours available and the different forms including: Fountain, Splash, or Wave.
#4 Twigs and Sticks
They may be listed as ‘Twigs and Sticks’ in the webshop, but that hardly does justice to the interest they can add – not to mention their injection of seasonality.
Their structural appeal and natural textures make them an invaluable element that enhances designs. They truly deserve their place in the 5 Top Cut Flowers for January — and and rest assured, they’ll remain a firm favourite in the coming months too.
So, don’t overlook the humble ‘Twigs and Sticks’ this January!
