Convallaria Complications - What's Happened?
We’ve recently been informed of a significant setback in Lily of the Valley production. The grower who supplies these delicate blooms to the auction has encountered a serious issue with their crop, resulting in the need to replant the entire production. As a result, there will be no availability of Lily of the Valley or ‘Convallaria’ from now until September.
What You Might Need to Know
Does this affect you? It’s probably fair to say this is a bit of a specialist flower and we know that many of you don’t promote it. Therefore, this unfortunate situation is unlikely to significantly impact you and your business.
However, if you do have any specialist orders that require Lily of the Valley in July or August you may need to reconsider your plans. If you have any questions or concerns, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re here to support you.
Did You Know?
Are you surprised to hear that Lily of the Valley is typically available in July and August at all? You’re not alone! While generally associated with spring, Lily of the Valley is actually available year-round as a commercial cut flower – well, that is usually the case!
Looking Ahead
We anticipate that Lily of the Valley will be available again from September. We’ll keep you updated if this changes.
An Unfortunate Situation, But Valuable Insights
While this is an unfortunate situation, we hope that most of you won’t be significantly impacted.
However, has this perhaps been a blessing in disguise? With your newfound knowledge about Lily of the Valley’s year-round availability, might you be more open to client requests for it in the future? It’s a safe bet that when clients specifically request Lily of the Valley, it’s often because it holds special significance for them. They may not be deterred by the price, but rather exceptionally grateful that you’ll go the extra mile to source it for them, especially if your competitors aren’t likely to offer this. Why not set yourself apart and possibly make a dedicated customer in the process?
Remember, we’re always here to offer guidance and support in this scenario. That way, you can be extra confident in offering this special flower (although as we’ve established, it’s only in the occasional unusual circumstance when it’s not available). This revision maintains the overall structure and message while adjusting the tone to better reflect your intention of encouraging openness to client requests rather than proactive offering.
