What you’ll discover below:
It’s November, and we’ve selected our 5 Top Cut Flowers for the month!
We’re starting to see Christmas all around us – but there’s still plenty of time to bridge the gap with seasonal materials.
Read on and see exactly what we mean as we share the colours that make many of these products perfect for November.
#1 Ilex Berries
The selection of Ilex available in November and December is excellent – and it’s not just red!
You could describe it as an analogous colour harmony, ranging from yellow through orange and then to red. However, this simplifies the selection available, as varieties such as ‘Cresgold’ and ‘Julia’ offer dual-coloured berries on the same branch. Other varieties offer shades of red that go from bright to dark dramatic tones.
Away from the ‘natural colours’, as we move closer to Christmas, we’ll see the selection of metallic-painted varieties grow and grow.

#2 Brassica | Cabbage
Don't underestimate the range!
You’d be forgiven for thinking the selection of brassica is limited. However, even these humble bracts have new varieties being brought to our attention each year.
Allow the images to scroll through and you’ll see 10 different varieties. We’ve limited the images here to that number, but there are so many more available. We chose these to demonstrate the diversity of colours and shapes – there’s no denying they differ greatly!
#3 Dianthus | Carnations Standard
Are we all guilty of taking Carnations – also known as Dianthus – for granted? They’ve been around for so long that it’s easy to overlook them. Yet, despite their long history, new and exciting varieties keep appearing all the time.
The colour range is more on-trend than ever before.
Although available throughout the year, we thought November was the perfect time to celebrate them. If you’ve unintentionally fallen out of love with Carnations, or tend to order the same varieties all the time, ask yourself – is it time to take another look at what’s available?
Below is just a tiny selection!
#4 Coloured Foliage
You don’t need us to tell you how popular coloured foliage continues to be. In November, we have the autumn tones still available, but we also see a wide metallic range coming through, especially as we go through the month and head towards Christmas. It’s the selection that just keeps giving.

It’s also worth noting how cost-effective these products are. While they cost more than their natural counterparts, they are likely to cost less than flowers, yet still give a huge splash of colour. Also, a little goes a long way!
Quick reminder: Some paint may transfer if it gets wet. It’s best to place these in shallow water and avoid using them in wet areas or on damp workbenches.
#5 Anigozanthus | Kangaroo Paws
An Amazing Flower Form
If you want to add an interesting structural stem to your designs, there’s nothing quite like Anigozanthus. Having said that, thanks to their visually tactile texture, they can also bring a softer feel to flower creations too.
The range of colour tones continues to expand, ensuring there’s a variety for every colour scheme. There’s nothing else quite like them.
Anigozanthus, also known as Kangaroo Paws, are especially abundant in November, so enjoy them now they’re more readily available.
