Rooted Flower Festival and a Rare Opportunity to Learn from Gregor Lersch
There are exciting floristry events happening in the next ten days, from a uniquely styled flower festival exploring floral creativity to an incredible hands-on workshop with one of the world’s most respected floral designers. We wanted to draw your attention to them both. They offer unique experiences for florists wanting to step from their workbench and immerse themselves in pure inspiration.
Members of the Westflor team will be getting involved in both, and we’re looking forward to seeing what we can learn, experience and bring back to share.
Rooted: Celebrating Flowers, Creativity and Sustainability
Rooted promises to be a truly memorable floral festival. It’s a curated, unique experience that celebrates creativity in partnership with heritage.
A collective of award-winning floral designers will showcase the finest floral artistry — seasonal, imaginative and deeply rooted in the history of Hodsock Priory, where the festival is held. It’s an experience of history, architecture and nature through a fresh, creative lens.
The beauty of events such as this is that they create their own limitations – designers aren’t working to a client’s brief! Without the usual constraints of a client brief, they have the freedom to experiment, explore and express their creativity.
It offers an opportunity to explore what thoughtful, creative floristry can look like, while celebrating the flowers and natural materials that make our industry so special. As the organisers explain:
We know the talented florists taking part will bring beautiful flowers and plant material together with fresh ideas, with sustainability at the heart of their approach.
For us at Westflor, this is an exciting opportunity to see the ideas, materials and approaches being explored across the industry. We’re delighted to be a little involved and will be helping behind the scenes.
We’ll also have the opportunity to catch up with Dutch grower friends and fellow suppliers who are among the event’s sponsors. We love seeing industry connections come together, coupled with plenty of inspiration and Rooted promises both. We’re looking forward to experiencing it first-hand.
The festival takes place from 23rd to the 25th October. Friday and Saturday are sold out, but a limited number of tickets remain for Sunday, which you can book here.
Hands-on opportunity to learn from a master: Gregor Lersch
Just days after Rooted, down the road, there’s an exciting opportunity to take part in a special two-day workshop led by world-renowned master florist Gregor Lersch, entitled Autumn Armature Workshop. The event is presented in collaboration with industry friends Julie Pearson Floral Designer and Floral Media.
Taking place on Tuesday 27th and Wednesday 28th October at Floral Media Flower Farm in Newark, the workshop will explore autumn armatures, natural materials and the mechanics that allow flowers to move and breathe within a design.
This is an opportunity to let your creativity go wild and learn new techniques from a once-in-a-generation florist who is a joy to work with.

Looking forward to sharing what we learn
At Westflor, we believe it’s important to stay connected with all areas of the floristry industry. Although events like these may be outside the day-to-day norm, they offer new discoveries, ideas and creative approaches that we look forward to sharing.
We’re looking forward to experiencing both events and reporting back on what we discover, with ideas, tips and tricks that might inspire your own floristry.
