About Clematis Amsterdam
We’re excited to showcase a very special new cut flower: Clematis ‘Amsterdam’ grown and supplied by our friends at Marginpar.
With its wonderfully rich colouring, this Clematis brings a truly unique and opulent shade to the extensive range of cut flower clematis available.
Its deep tones and distinctive bi-coloured stamens add to its character, giving it a look all of its own. These rich red tones open up new possibilities for florists, allowing Clematis to feature in colour palettes where other varieties might not have been suitable. Whether used as a feature flower or in a supporting role, ‘Amsterdam’ offers something a little different, bringing their natural movement and distinctive form to an even wider range of floral designs.
Marginpar premiered ‘Clematis Amsterdam’ at FleurEx – yep, us Brits got to see it first!
At the time of FleurEx, held on the first weekend of October, we were told it would be available in around 3 weeks, meaning it should be with us in late October or early November 2026!
Designer Hanneke Frankema was delighted to demonstrate with this new flower on the main stage. As she explained, the Dutch, including herself, have been patiently waiting for their Clematis, as each new variety in the series is named after a capital city. But, as Hanneke put it, “it was well worth the wait”.
Images below combine shots directly from our friends at Marginpar and some from Hanneke’s demonstration.
