Westflor is a finalist in not one, but three categories at the Fresh Produce Consortium Awards, and this is our first time entering! To say we’re delighted would be an understatement.
The Fresh Produce Consortium represents a vast array of companies across the UK’s domestic and global supply chains for the fruit, vegetable, and flower industries—that’s a lot of companies! Being selected as a finalist is a phenomenal achievement that we’re really proud of, and we think it’s fair to say we’re justifiably so?

Wholesale Floral/Plant Supplier of the Year
This category celebrates excellence in wholesale companies that sell fresh floral products, plants, or both. It’s judged on many aspects, but in essence, it elevates companies that provide outstanding service and quality.
We’re absolutely thrilled to be recognised as a leader in this sector — it’s an achievement that still has us pinching ourselves! Our customers know the level of commitment we bring to delivering the best products and service, but to have their trust reflected by this esteemed association is simply amazing.
Team of the Year
This category recognises the outstanding achievements and collaboration of teams throughout any of the sectors represented by the Fresh Produce Consortium (FPC). It highlights those who work together seamlessly to drive success, innovation, and excellence in the industry. The award underscores the importance of teamwork in achieving organisational goals and delivering exceptional results.
Being a finalist in the Team of the Year category is a tremendous honour for us. Our team is the backbone of everything we do, working tirelessly to meet and exceed our customers’ expectations. At Westflor, we have a supportive family vibe, with staff members who have been with us for decades. This recognition is a testament not only to how they support our customers and the business but, more importantly, to their dedication, passion, and the strong camaraderie that binds us together.
We’re incredibly proud of and grateful to our team. To have their efforts acknowledged above so many other companies is truly rewarding. We’re thankful to the FPC, but we know this recognition is a true reflection of what our team deserves.
Manager of the Year
This category recognises the exceptional leadership and management skills of individuals within the fresh produce industry. Those who have made it into the shortlist inspire their teams, drive innovation, and contribute significantly to the success of their organisations. The award recognises the vital role that effective management plays in achieving business goals and creating a positive work environment that gets the best out of teams and individuals.
It’s open to all managers from any sector that the FPC represents — thousands including the likes of M&S, Waitrose, Lincoln University, Fresh Direct & Tesco. With such a vast pool of talent, making it to the final seven is truly outstanding!
Being a finalist for Manager of the Year is a tremendous honour for us, and while it’s undoubtedly one that Dave hugely deserves, the achievement of reaching this stage is remarkable. Dave exemplifies what it means to lead with passion and integrity. He constantly motivates and inspires those around him, always putting the team and our customers first, and has been instrumental in the continued success at Westflor.
We’re incredibly proud of this recognition, as it reflects not only Dave’s hard work but also the collaborative spirit of our entire team. A massive thank you to the FPC for acknowledging Dave and Westflor in such a hotly contested category. It’s a testament to the fantastic work happening here at Westflor and the positive impact Dave has on our team and business.
About the FPC Fresh Awards
The FPC Fresh Awards, organised by the Fresh Produce Consortium, are often referred to as the Oscars of the fresh produce sector.
The glitzy black-tie awards ceremony is held at the prestigious JW Marriott Grosvenor House in London. It’s the largest awards event in our sector, gathering over 700 industry professionals for an evening of celebration, networking, and entertainment, including a drinks reception and a gala dinner.
Unfortunately, it takes place the same weekend as the British Florist Association Awards this year, so we won’t all be able to attend the event in person on September 27, 2024. However, we’ll be following the results closely!
Significance of the Awards
It’s hard to put into words the significance and importance of making it to the finals in not just one, but three categories. The FPC Fresh Awards bring together a wide range of companies from every corner of the sector, throughout the UK and beyond, as many international companies are in the running. A significant proportion of these companies have turnovers in the tens of billions, yet here we are going head to head with them!
This achievement goes to show that Westflor is, once again, sending ripples through the industry. It highlights that we’re a company that excels on every level and a force to be reckoned with.

We are still in shock and absolutely thrilled to be finalists in three prestigious categories at the FPC Fresh Awards: Wholesale Floral/Plant Supplier of the Year, Team of the Year, and Manager of the Year.
