Here we share the 10 Top Flowers for winter and Christmas. Will you reconsider some of the flowers you use when you read our line up, top tips and the info you might not know? Are you guilty of overlooking some of these flowers and materials? It is time to add some new flowers to your wintery selection, or do you disagree with our choice and have others you’ll opt for?

#1 Ilex Berries
Red Ilex – ‘Verticillata’ variety
Orange / Bi-colour Ilex – ‘Cresgold’ variety
Yellow Ilex – ‘Citronella’ variety
The selection of Ilex available in November & December is excellent and it’s not just red!
To explain it as an analogous colour harmony ranging from yellow through orange and then to red even simplifies the selection available. With varieties such as ‘Cresgold’ and ‘Julia’ giving different dual-colour berries on the same branch, and shades of red that go from brilliant to darker dramatic tones.
Away from the ‘natural colours’ the closer to Christmas we get the metallic painted selection that grows and grows too. So whether you use the whole stem or cut them up to use them throughout designs Ilex is an excellent seasonal plant material that’s a great addition to countless designs.
#2 Hippeastrum
Amaryllis (is where you'll find them!)
Whilst we all may call it ‘Amaryllis’ from time to time – and this is where you’ll find them in our Webshop listing, its proper name is actually Hippeastrum. Hence, you’ll often see them listed as ‘Hipp’. Top tip: if you’re using our search box, this is all you need to enter to find them.
Here we’re seeing just a few of the selection available, from the much-loved bright ‘Red Lion’ to the intriguing ‘Tarantula’, the classic bi-colour ‘Showmaster’, the double ‘White Glory’, the sculptural, vivid ‘Autumn Valley’ to the layered ‘Nymph’ and the bold ‘Happy Valley’. Just seven of the many, many varieties available.
If ever there’s a time to use these seriously impressive flowers it’s in the run up to Christmas!

#3 Christmas Foliage & Wreaths

#4 Cymbidiums
Add a touch of luxury to your designs with Cymbidium Orchids that are really at their best in November and December.
Use them in conjunction with the tubes on spikes and they’re really easy and very cost efficient to add to bouquets, arrangements, even wreaths, although there’s nothing quite like using a whole stem!

#5 Bloom Chrysanthemums
You’re unlikely to need us to tell you how impressive Chrysanthemum blooms (or disbudded) are this time of year. Their impact is only equalled by their lasting ability, and of course, they’re the classic that seriously back on trend.

#6 Coloured Foliage

Almost every item is available in every colour – as well as all the usual tones that you’ll see throughout the year. There’s no denying they add great interest to designs, along with that little blast of colour and Christmas cheer.
Quick reminder: Always be mindful that the paint maybe transferred if it gets wet. Best to put it in shallow water and avoid putting in wet areas / work benches etc.
#7 Christmas Deco (on Sticks)
A hugely convenient way to add a bit of a wintery feel or a tasteful touch of Christmas bling to a design.
With so many different options and colours to select (with only a tiny bit shown here) your bound to find something that will suit your style.
#8 Brassicas
Some seriously stylish Cabbages!

Don’t overlook Brassicas, whilst they’re a type of cabbage there’s nothing ordinary about them. The selection available is pretty incredible and so many are really eye catching and in some cases – dare we say – beautiful?!
#9 Anigozanthus
or Kangaroo Paws!
If you want to add an amazing form to your designs there’s nothing quite like Anigozanthus. Their texture and colour tones are fab too – there’s nothing quite like it. There’s an amazing array of Anigozanthus AKA Kangaroo Paws available, especially in November and December.
#10 Exotic Flowers
Exotic or Tropical flowers are a great choice for winter. They are very often more reasonably priced and also sold in smaller quantities than you might think – a win win!
