There’s something so wonderful about the sight of Daffodils in January. Whilst there’s too many varieties to show here, we’re pleased to share a few with you, including two grown in the UK.

#2 Tulips

The selection of Tulips or Tulipa that’s available is nothing short of incredible.

  • Single – Tulipa ‘En’ or enkel (Dutch for single)
  • Double – Tulipa ‘Du’ or dubbel (Dutch for Double)
  • Coronet – Tulipa ‘Co’ or Coronet  – An example is the Crown of Dynasty.
  • Fringed – Tulipa ‘Fr’ or Fringed – An example is the Clemente
  • Parrot – Tulipa ‘Pa’ or parkiet (Dutch for Parrot)

Other varieties can be described as Lily-flowers, Viridiflora, Peony-flowered, etc. Although you’re unlikely to find them listed this way on our webshop. And that’s before we talk about the painted tulips!

If you’re wondering, the ‘Topping’ effects are created by the tulips drinking a special coloured fluid that is completely natural and fully biodegradable without any harm to the environment from the start to finish!

#3 Italian Matthiola

Stocks

Whilst you might not think of Stocks or Matthiola as a spring or winter flower we have wonderful Italian Matthiola coming in. Whilst they’re available throughout the month they really hit their stride by mid January.

#4 Hellebores

Helleborus varieties flower arrangement

Whilst they have a common name of Christmas Rose Hellebores really come in to their own in the early part of the year, starting in January.

We have fabulous Dutch Hellebores available from growers including the fantastic Haas Flowers as well as beautiful Helleborus varieties from our friends at Marginpar grown and imported from Kenya and Ethiopia.

#5 Hyacinths

There are very few flowers that offer the level of fragrance than that of Hyacinths. Hover over the images to see the fragrance rating of these varieties.
